GREYFRIARS MEDICAL CENTRE
NEWS
Our premises redevelopment work is finished after a long process of working around the contractors. We apologise to all for the inconvenience that it has caused but we are sure that we will all benefit from the new facilities. We have installed a lift for full access to all four floors that can be accessed easily from Reception. The lift at the back of the building is also still in place providing easy access to the ground floor, basement and disabled car parking spaces to the rear. We now have ample clinical space with sufficient rooms for all doctors, nurses, health care assistants, registrars and medical students. Our conference room has been transformed into an IT teaching suite thanks to a grant from the Scottish Government. (April 2008)
Dr Madhavi Guntamukkala (Madu) has joined Greyfriars as a part-time GP. She worked with us as our Registrar from August 2006 to July 2007 so many patients will have met her already. She graduated from the NTR University of Health Sciences in Hyperabad, Andhra Pradesh, India in 2002 and, since coming to the UK, has worked in various hospital jobs (medicine, A&E, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, psychiatry in Dumfries and paediatrics in Ormskirk). Her husband is a doctor in Dumfries and they have a nine month old baby, Niharika. (August 2007)
We have a new computerised appointment notification system available in Reception for patients to record their arrival for an appointment with a clinician in order to save them from the inconvenience of having to notify their arrival to Reception staff. (September 2006)
