CLINICS

CERVICAL SMEAR CLINIC

We recommend that all women in age group 19-60 years should have regular cervical smears at the intervals recommended by your doctor.  Patients will be sent appointments for this clinic which is conducted by our Practice Nurses.  You may, however, make appointments yourself if your wish.

CONTRACEPTIVE AND FAMILY PLANNING

Advice on family planning can be obtained from your doctor during normal Surgery appointments.

ANTE-NATAL / POST-NATAL CLINICS

These are conducted on a shared care basis by your doctor and midwives from Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary Maternity Unit.  Clinic appointments can be made in the usual manner.

CHILD IMMUNISATION CLINICS

We strongly recommend that all children are fully immunised wherever possible.  The clinic is normally held on a Tuesday afternoon and appointments can be made by contacting the receptionist.  The clinic is conducted by our Health Visitors with one of the doctors in attendance.

ADULT AND TRAVEL IMMUNISATIONS

We recommend that all adults have effective tetanus, diphtheria and polio immunisation.  In addition we offer a specialised travel immunisation service.  Please ask the receptionists for further details.  Holiday immunisations require to be planned about two months in advance to be fully effective.

CHILD SURVEILLANCE CLINIC

Our Health Visitors and Doctors work together to provide a Child Health Surveillance Service.  We recommend a series of health and developmental checks on all children from birth to the age of five years.  These are carried out at clinics held within the Practice premises. Information about these clinics can be obtained from the Receptionists or your Health Visitor.

MINOR SURGERY / WART TREATMENT CLINIC

Certain minor surgical procedures along with most wart treatment can be carried out at the Surgery.  Details of minor surgical procedures available can be obtained from your own doctor and appointments for the treatments of warts made once your doctor has advised this is necessary.

ASTHMA, DIABETES AND HYPERTENSION CLINICS

All doctors in conjunction with the Practice Nurses offer an organised programme of follow-up for patients with these conditions.  Details are available from your doctor.

WOUND MANAGEMENT CLINIC

These are conducted by the District Nursing Sisters on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - attendance is by appointment.

GENERAL HEALTH PROMOTION

A variety of health promotion clinics are held in the Surgery.  Further information can be obtained by making an appointment with the Practice Nurse.
